New classes in 2018

It is FSV's pleasure to introduce two new classes commencing in 2018.

The first of these classes, FSVW, is a women’s focused class – run by women for women – which will be led by Mady. These classes will emphasise technical development, building on FSV’s Lichtenauer longsword curriculum. Our female instruction team will collaborate with students to develop technique and confidence over time and introduce competition in a controlled and cooperative environment. This class aims to also encouraging more women to take up HEMA, while also creating a supportive and sociable space for new and experienced female fencers.

Alternating with FSVW will be a new stream of Sparring Classes. These are not free sparring nights but rather structured classes that will consist of controlled bouts and sparring drills, which will led by Josh. These classes will provide a more active and competitive environment in which to further develop the techniques and principles introduced in the mainstream classes. As such, they are primarily suited to more experienced students. However, eager beginners and more competition-focused HEMA practitioners are more than welcome.

These classes will run fortnightly on alternating Tuesday evenings (between 7:30 and 9:30) commencing 30th January.

We are very pleased to welcome Mady and Josh to the FSV instruction team and thank them for their commitment and enthusiasm.

We are looking forward to a great year and encourage you all to try out one of the new classes.
